Abstract
Background: The problem of population in Indonesia is the high growth and birth rate of the population, lack of knowledge and awareness of fertile age regarding reproductive rights, low husband's participation in family planning. Objective: The purpose of this study is to find out factors related to the participation of fertile age couples (husbands) in family planning at Kelurahan Perintis, Working Area of Glugur Darat Health Center Medan in 2019. Methods: The study design was an analytical survey with cross sectional approach. The population of this study was the whole husband of fertile age couple with 202 people. The sampling technique used slovin formula for 67 respondents. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. Results: of the study were based on sources of information that lack information sources as many as 46 respondents (68.7%), who lack knowledge as many as 28 respondents (41.8%), who did not have the wife's support as many as 41 respondents (61.2%), who did not participate in the participation of fertile age couple, 46 respondents (68.7%). Conclusion: shows that there is the relationship between information sources, knowledge and wife's support with the participation of fertile age couple (husband) in family planning at Kelurahan Perintis, Working Area of Glugur Darat Health Center in 2019. It is suggested for health workers that this research can be an input in increasing counseling with husband to participate in Family Planning.
