Abstract
One of the leaves that can be efficacious as a medicine is soursop (Annona muricata L.) and basil (Ocimum Americanum L.) leaves. Soursop leaves contain secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, coumarin and lactone, anthraquinone, tannins, glycosides, phenols, phytosterols, and saponins. Basil leaves have active compounds of essential oils, alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, triterpenoids, steroids, tannins and phenols. This study aims to determine the ability of the gel against the activity of P. acne and S. aureus bacteria.
This study used an experimental method using soursop and basil leaf extracts concentrations of FS: 5%, 10%, 15%, FK: 5%, 10%, 15% and FSK 10% 1:1, 1:3, 3:1 Evaluation of gel preparations includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, dispersal and testing of antibacterial activity.
Based on research that has been done showed that FS, FK and FSK gels can inhibit the growth of P. acne and S. aureus bacteria.
The conclusion of this study is the gel combination of ethanol extract of soursop leaves and basil leaves has a higher effect compared to a single extract against the bacteria P. acne and S. aureus. The combination of ethanol extract of soursop leaves and basil leaves has the optimum effect as an antibacterial against P. acne and S. aureus bacteria at a concentration of 10% with a ratio of 1: 1.
