Abstract

Lactation management is the whole process of breastfeeding starting from antenatal, perinatal and postnatal care. Coverage of breastfeeding <1 hour in newborns at UPTD Puskesmas Samadua is still very low at 32.4% and exclusive breastfeeding for babies 0-6 months at 34.9%. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the implementation of lactation management in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Samadua, Samadua District, South Aceh Regency in 2019.
This study uses a quantitative descriptive design with a cross sectional study design. The population of this research is 258 mothers who have toddlers aged 2-3 years. A sample of 157 people were taken using simple random sampling technique. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with Chi-Square test statistics.
The results showed there was a relationship between knowledge (p = 0.003) and attitude (p = 0.008), with the implementation of lactation management and there was no relationship between work (p = 0.472), husband's support (p = 0.830) and support of health workers (p = 0.570) with the implementation of lactation management in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Samadua, Samadua District, South Aceh Regency in 2019
The conclusions in this study are factors related to the implementation of lactation management, namely knowledge and attitudes, unrelated factors namely work, husband's support, and support of health workers. It is hoped that this research can be input for Puskesmas in improving performance to carry out programs set by the government through the implementation of lactation management.
