Abstract

The chosen effective contraceptive method is the use of tools or ways to prevent pregnancy in the long run with high effectiveness. Data obtained from researchers from Aek Godang Health Center from January to June there were 876 fertile age (EFA) and EFA couples who used selected effective contraception as many as 329 EFAs. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and education level with the use of selected effective contraceptive methods at Aek Godang Health Center of North Padang Lawas in 2018.
The research design used in this study is Cross Sectional. The population in this study as many as 46 people and the sample was taken by total sampling that was the total population as many as 46 people. The data collection methods were primary, secondary and tertiary data. The data was analyzed by using chi-square test.
The results showed that most respondents lacked knowledge as many as 22 respondents (47.8%), secondary education as many as 21 respondents (45.7%) and did not use selected effective contraceptives as many as 26 respondents (56.5%). The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a correlation between knowledge (sig-p 0.004) and education (sig-p 0.033) with the use of selected effective contraceptive methods at Aek Godang Health Center in North Padang Lawas in 2018.
The conclusion in this study shows the results of the relationship between knowledge and education level of mothers with the use of selected effective contraceptive methods at Aek Godang Health Center in North Padang Lawas Utara 2018. It is hoped that this research can be used as information material for family planning service officers in order to find out about ways to increase maternal knowledge and insight so that mothers can know clearly about the use of selected effective contraceptive methods.
