Abstract
Hypertension is a disease that requires therapy in the use of drugs, so it is necessary to manage hypertension based on adherence to therapy. Irregularity in the use of drugs in hypertensive patients against therapeutic programs is a big problem in patients with hypertension.
This type of research is a cross sectional study. The study was conducted in June 2019 at Pharmacy Lestari 3 Medan. The population is all patients who come to buy medicine at Lestari Pharmacy 3 with a total sample of 60 people. The analysis used was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis was performed with Chi Square statistical tests, with a confidence level of 0.05.
The results showed that 21 respondents (35.0%) had good knowledge, 36 people (60.0%) had enough knowledge while 3 people (5.0%) lacked knowledge. The results of the chi-square statistical test of knowledge with the use of hypertension drugs showed a p value of 0.043 <0.05. negative attitudes as many as 10 people (16.7%) while those who have positive attitudes are 50 people (83.3%). Regular use of drugs as many as 12 people (20.0) and irregular use of hypertension drugs 48 (80.0). The results of the chi-square statistical test results attitudes with the use of hypertension drugs showed a p value of 0.003 <0.05.
The conclusion is that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude towards the use of hypertension drugs at the Sunggal 3 Pharmacy, Medan. It is recommended to respondents to further increase knowledge about hypertension and how to use hypertension medication that is appropriate and regular.
