Abstract

Indonesian Internet Service Users Association (APJJI) (2017) revealed that internet use in Indonesia was 143.26 million (54.68%). The self-concept that has been formed has the possibility to experience change, but it will be more difficult.. The purpose of this study is to find out The Influence Of Self- Concept About The Use Of Social Media On Adolescent Behaviour In Parulian 1 High School Medan 2019. Method: This research was a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomeno-logical approach. The research was conducted by interviewing 2 teenagers who actively using social media. Results: The results showed that the self-concept of using social media greatly influenced adolescent behaviour. With a variety of social media services forming adolescents' self-concepts becoming more mature than their age, their self-disclosure through their desire to exist with and express their personal problems in an implied form and adolescents increasingly apathetic and adolescent consumptive behavior increases with the presence of social media that requires them to follow the trends. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study the self-concept of using social media greatly influences adolescent behavior. It is recommended to further explorer into the self-concept of adolescents in an increasingly sophisticated in the use of social media, so that they can conceptualize themselves to be better and produce behaviours not away from social norms in the real world.
