Abstract

Data from the Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) that ideally marriage takes place at least 25 years old for men and at least 20 years old for women, in Indonesia can be shown with the following percentage results: for ages 10-14 years ie 4, 8%, ages 15-19 years ie 41.9%, ages 20-24 years ie 33.6%, ages 25-29 years ie 11.5%, ages 30-34 years 1.9%, ages 35 years and above 0.6% and 5.7% did not answer. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence early marriage in childbearing age couples in Percut Sei Tuan District in 2019. Methods: The study design was an analytic survey research with cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study amounted 89 respondnets by using probability sampling with a random technique that choosen from population which written on paper. Data collection with primary, secondary and tertiary data. data were analysed by using chi-square test. Result: Based on the results obtained that the age of 20-35 years amounted 56 respondents (62.9%), who have secondary education amounted 66 respondents (74.2%), whose economy is low as 68 respondents (76.4%), who have enough knowledge were 51 respondents (57.3%), which occurred early marriage were 47 respondents (52.8%). Conclusion of this study shows that there is an influence between age, education, economy, knowledge and attitude with early marriage.
