Abstract
Labor pain is a physiological condition that will generally be experienced by almost all mothers. Based on the results of a preliminary survey of 4 at the Clinic, the researchers took 2 pairs of samples with the same degree in the first stage of labor of 4 people. 2 people as samples for the group that will be given a warm compress treatment and will be compared with 2 people as a sample that will be given a massage treatment. Objective: The study was to determine the difference between Warm Compress Techniques and Massage Techniques to Reduce Pain in First Stage of Labor at Mandiri Midwife Clinic Shanty Afridani S, SST Cilincing District, Medan Barat in 2019. Methods: This study used a Quasi Experiment with pretest and posttest design. The samples in this study were 10 maternal women who experienced labor pain. Data analysis in was using the normality test, and to determine the comparison of interventions using the Wilcoxon Test. Results: Analysis used normality test and results were not normally distributed. Furthermore by using non-parametric test with Wilcoxon test and A-symp values. Sig warm compress p=.102>.050, the result of Asymp value. Sig of back massage was .41<.050 which showed that warm compress intervention was more effective than back massage. Conclusion: shows that massage techniques are more effective because it stimulates the body to release endorphin compounds and also create a feeling of comfort, while warm compresses are only heat that can stimulate nerve fibers that close the pain faster to feel it back after massage compared to warm compresses.
