Abstract
early complimentary feeding is higher than exclusives because of several factors such as education, employment, knowledge, and support of health workers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with early complimentary feeding for infants 0-6 months.
This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional design conducted in July 2019 in Lingga Tiga Village, Bilah Hulu Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu pada Regency. The population amounted 339 children with 6-12-month-old children with a sample of 77 respondents. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariate analyses by Chi-Square test at 95% confidence level (a=.05).
Based on the results of the study showed that most of the respondents had given early complementary feeding to their babies aged 0-6 months (68.8%), who did not provide early complementary feeding (31.2%). Factors namely education with (p=.048), knowledge with (p=.005), support of health workers with (p=.001). While the unrelated variable is work with (p=.206).
The conclusion of this study is that education, knowledge, and support of health workers are significantly related to the provision of early breastfeeding for babies 0-6 months. It is recommended that health workers in Lingga Tiga Village (village midwives) routinely provide health education or information to mothers and families about the importance of not giving MP-ASI to infants aged 0-6 and providing information about foods suitable for infants aged 0-6 namely exclusive breastfeeding, and providing food gradually after children aged> 6 months.
