Abstract

Hyperemesis gravidarum is vomiting that occurs until 20 weeks of gestation and is so severe that everything that is eaten and drunk is vomited so that it affects the general condition and daily work, weight loss, dehydration. According to the World Health Organization, the incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum in Indonesia is ranging from 1% to 3% of all pregnancies. The aim of this study was to determine the factors related to hyperemesis gravidarum in first trimester pregnant women at Nirmala Clinic Medan in 2019.
This research type is analytical survey with cross sectional design. The population were all first trimester pregnant women who experience hyperemesis gravidarum at Nirmala Clinic in July-August 2019 amount 30 respondents and all were sampled. Data collection techniques using primary data. The data analysis used univariate and bivariate with chi square statistical tests
The results of the study based on the chi square test showed that the age variable p-value .023 (<.05), parity p-value .018 (<.05), husband support p-value .026 (<.05), employment p-value .007 (<.05) which means there was a significant relationship between age, parity, husband's support, and work with hyperemesis gravidarum in first trimester pregnant women.
The conclusion shows that there is a relationship between age, parity, husband support, and work with hyperemesis gravidarum in first trimester pregnant women at Nirmala Clinic Medan in 2019. It is sugegsted for pregnant women to routinely conduct ANC visits and carry out information obtained from health workers to prevent and overcome the incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum.
