Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is breastfeeding for babies without
complementary food and drinks. Exclusive breastfeeding has many
benefits, scientific research shows that children as babies get
exclusive breastfeeding are generally smarter and have stronger
endurance. WHO has reviewed 3,000 studies showing that breastfeeding
for 6 months is the most optimal time for exclusive breastfeeding.
Health Data in Aceh decreased by 50% in exclusive breastfeeding data
in 2016, while in 2015 it was 53%. This study aims to analyze the
relationship between husband support and maternals employment status
with exclusive breastfeeding in the village of Sukarejo in 2019.
This type of research was an analytic survey with cross-sectional
design. The population in this study were maternal who had children
aged 6-12 months in the village of Sukarejo with a total sample of 40
maternals with a sampling technique used total population. Data
analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis, bivariate analysis
with Chi-square test.
The results showed 60% of maternals who did not provide exclusive
breastfeeding, 55% of mothers who received husband support and 57.3%
of mothers who did not work. After a statistical test with the
Chi-Square test, it was found that there was a relationship between
husband's support and maternal employment status with exclusive
breastfeeding with a p value of .016 and a value of .005 (<.005).
The conclusion of this study was the relationship between husband
support and employment status with exclusive breastfeeding in Sukarejo
Village. It is recommended for Polindes that it is hoped that this
research can be input to further increase the provision of information
to mothers about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding through
counseling in Sukarejo Village.
