Abstract

Safety driving is the basis for further driving training that pays more attention to safety for drivers and passengers. In general, the main cause of traffic accidents in North Sumatra is due to human negligence, from the whole series of accidents caused by motorists who pay less attention to their safety. Based on preliminary surveys conducted showed that most drivers do not have safety driving behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the behavior of safety driving on KPUB bus drivers in Medan Pinang Baris Terminal.
This type of research is analytic survey research with cross sectional approach. The study population was all 110 KPUB bus drivers with a total population sample of 110 people. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with chi-square test statistics.
The results of this study indicate that of 110 respondents, as many as 45 respondents (40.9%) had an appropriate safety draving and 65 respondents (59.1%) had an inappropriate safety draving. Bivariate analysis shows that there is an influence of age (p = 0.011 <0.05), years of service (p = 0.032 <0.05) and knowledge (p = 0.003 <0.05) with safe driving behavior on bus drivers KPUB Medan-P.Susu Route in Medan Pinang Terminal.
The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between age, work period and knowledge with safe driving behavior in the KPUB Medan-P.Susu Route KPUB bus driver in the Pinang Baris Terminal in Medan in 2019. For the Transportation Department of Langkat Regency, it is hoped that this research can be used as material considerations for debriefing / education on the importance of safe driving on the highway to the urban transport driver.
