Abstract
PEM is a nutrient deficiency caused by low consumption of energy and protein in daily food that does not meet the nutritional adequacy rate. Nutrient intake for the health of the mother. Nutrition counseling is one way to overcome mothers.
Analyzing the effect of nutritional counseling on improving nutritional status of KEP infants based on knowledge.
Experimental research with quasi-experimental children in PEM aged 2-5 years at Blang Mangat Health Center and Blang Cut Health Center. The number of samples was 20 mothers in the control group and 20 mothers in the intervention group. The intervention group was mothers from PEM infants who were given nutritional counseling. The control group was mothers of PEM children not given nutritional counseling. Counseling is done 3 times for 3 months. Research subjects are mothers who have PEM children. Data analysis using different test.
As many as 85% of subjects did not get breast milk. in the control group, there was no increase in score, significantly, but the knowledge score increased significantly (p = 0.022). Knowledge scores, significant improvement (p = 0,000). There was a difference (0,000) between the intervention group and the control group.
Nutrition counseling can increase knowledge and attitudes of mothers, so that the nutritional status of children under five increases significantly.
