Abstract

Papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) is one of the plants that contains papain enzyme that functions as an exfoliating agent capable of removing dead skin cells and dry skin so that it can make the skin look fresh. Balimbi can be beneficial for beauty. The content of vitamin C and vitamin A can ward off free radicals that cause cell damage and the aging process. Masks with Clay type are widely used because it can rejuvenate the skin.Objectives; This research was conducted with the aim of making a clay mask formulation from papaya leaf ethanol extract and balimbi juice. Method; The method used in this research was the experimental method. The making of papaya leaves ethanol extract by means of extraction by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The sample used was papaya leaves extract consisting of variations in different concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% with balimbi extract each 5%, 10%, and 15%. Result; The results of the examination of the quality of organoleptic test dosage form showed that the higher the concentration of the extract in clay mask form, the more intense the color and the sharper aroma, the homogeneity test of the form showed a homogeneous arrangement, the resulting pH test 5.1-4.7. The dry dosage form test resulted in 11-27 minutes, and the voluntary skin irritation test did not show positive skin irritation. Conclusion; It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of papaya leaves and balimbi juice can be formulated as a clay mask.
