Abstract
Market waste management is all activities carried out to handle waste from the time it is generated until the final disposal of activities. Waste management includes the collection, transportation and management of waste so that waste does not harm the health of the community and the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the participation of traders in market waste management at Panyabungan market, Hutaraja Tinggi Sub-District of Padang Lawas District in 2019.
This research used analytical survey method with cross sectional design. The populations in this study were 102 traders in Panyabungan market of Hutaraja Tinggi Sub-District by taking a sample using a total population. The data were analyzed univariately and bivariately and tested by using a square test.
The results of this study indicated that education has a value (p =.003 <.05), knowledge (p =.000 <.05), attitude (p =.004 <0.05) and availability of facilities (p = 0.000 <.05 ) with the participation of traders in market waste management at Panyabungan market, Hutaraja Tinggi Sub-District, Padang Lawas District in 2019.
The conclusion of this study shows that there is the relationship of education, knowledge, attitudes, and availability of facilities with the participation of traders in market waste management at Panyabungan market Hutaraja Tinggi Sub-District of Padang Lawas District in 2019. It is suggested to the Panyabungan market manager to obligate each trader to have their own garbage bins that meet health requirements and give sanctions which is firm if they litter.
