Abstract
The relatively high population growth is a threat of population explosion which is included in population problems in Indonesia. Family planning is a BKKBN program as a government institution in Indonesia that is tasked with controlling fertility through the use of contraception. In 2016 (EFA) there were 48,536,690.new Family Planning participants were 6,663,156 (13.73%), the lowest contraceptive selection was IUD Contraception only (7.23%) from other contraceptives. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of husband's support with the selection of IUD contraception in Working Area of Lahomi Health Center, 2018.
The research design used analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The populations were all family planning acceptors in Working Area of Lahomi Health Center, 2018 as many as 473 people. The sampling technique used Slovin formula then it was done randomly by using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The research variables were husband’s support and IUD contraception selection.
The results of this study, with univariate analysis of 82 respondents, the majority did not support as many as 58 (70.7%) and minorities who supported as many as 24 (29.3%) respondents. Then the majority who did not vote for IUD contraception was 56 (68.3%), and the minority was 26 (31.7%) respondents. Bivariate analysis was done by using Chi-Square test with a value of ᾳ = 0.05, and the results of the study showed p-value = 0.004 <ᾳ = 0.05.
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship of husband's support with IUD contraceptive selection in Working Area of Lahomi Health Center in 2018. It is expected to the health workers, especially midwives, and should improve communication in providing services and information especially in IUD contraception services.
