Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) quoted in State of the world’s Mother 2013 from the number of deaths, there were 5 million people and 98% deaths were recorded in developing countries. It was stated that 36% of the deaths were caused by infection by 27% of the cases caused by bananas less weight and lower body weight, and 7% by other causes. The purpose of the study was to find out the associated factors with LBW in Surabaya before in Imelda General Hospital Medan in 2018.

The study design used in the study of hypersatitic lactation with cross sectional approach. Population of the study amounted 68 infants who experienced LBW. the sample of this study was all the population amounted 68 infants who experienced LBW from secondary data in Imelda Hospital Medan Indonesian Workers in 2018 taken by using a total sampling.

The results of univariate analysis showed that at the age of 20-35 years there were 54 (79.4%), then the minority at the age of >35 years was 14 (20.6%). The majority of parity in the multipara group is 37 (54.4%), in the minority primiparous group 3 (41.2%), then the majority in multiparous is 28 (35.3%). The majority of gestational ages in the preterm group were 49 (72.1%), while the post-term minority group were 19 (27.9%). Bivariate analysis using Chi-square test with a value of α = 0.05, and the results showed P-value = 0.0200, P-value 0.0651, and P-value0.0991 > α = 0.05.

It can be concluded that there is no significant relationship with LBW on new born babies. It is hoped that all special health services and those serving in the Imelda Pekerja Indonesia General Hospital of Medan, and the place of research are expected to carry out investigations on the importance of routine pregnancy checks so that they are not complicated during pregnancy which can cause problems in the one woman's pregnancy.
