Abstract

Preliminary research shows, mothers who do not understand solid waste management like throwing garbage in the yard and behind the house and burning it. In addition, garbage trucks are transported once every 2 days so that garbage accumulates and smells bad. This research was descriptive analytic research methods with cross sectional study design. The population of this study was 205 housewives with a sample of 136 respondents. Data analysis by performing chi-square analysis test. The results of this study are all variables have an influence with the participation of housewives in waste management, (education p=.012, knowledge p=.007, attitude p=.013 and facilities and infrastructure p=.013). It is recommended to the Gunung Bukit government to be able to involve the community in the management of household waste so as to minimize the waste that is transported to the Final Disposal Site (TPA) and to establish a community for waste management in their homes.
