Abstract
Early Breastfeeding Initiation will significantly reduce the burden of infectious diseases because soon after birth the baby has obtained colostrums which is proven to be able to increase the immunity of newborns. North Sumatra Province is the third lowest after North Maluku and West Sulawesi for EBI, which is around 44%. The aim of the study is to find out the factors related to Early Breastfeeding Initiation at Working Area of Batunadua Health Center Padangsidimpuan in 2019.
The study used a cross sectional research design. The study was conducted at Working Area of the Batunadua Health Center Padangsidimpuan in 2019. The time of the study was in March to September 2019. The research sample was 65 respondents. The data analysis to answer the research problem was done by using the chi square test.
The results showed the majority of knowledge lacking as many as 26 (66.7%) of respondents with p value = 0.003, the majority negative attitude 33 (84.6%) of respondents with p value = 0,000, basic majority education 27 (69.3%) of respondents with p value = 0.001, majority husband support was less 32 (82%) of respondents with p value = 0,000, and support of majority health workers was less as many as 31 (79.5%) respondents with p value = 0,000
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship of knowledge, attitudes, education, husband support and support of health workers, there is a relationship with work and education, and there is no relationship with the initiation of early breastfeeding at Working Area of Batunadua Health Center Padangsidimpuan in 2019. It is suggested for mothers who have babies to find more information about the importance early breastfeeding initiation.
