Abstract
Breast cancer is known as one of the most common cancers in women and high mortality. It is estimated that in 2030 the incident will reach 26 million people. The best solution for preventing breast cancer is through health education about being aware. This study aims to determine the effect of health education about BSE as early detection of breast cancer on the knowledge and attitudes of Arjuna Laguboti Vocational School students in Laguboti Subdistrict, Tobasamosir Regencyin2018.
This type of research is a quasi-experimental study, using the pretest-posttest design method that is by giving a pretest (initial observation) before intervention, after being given an intervention, then posttest (final observation). The population of this research was 91 grade XII students and the total sample was 91 samples. The statistical test used was the Wilcoxon Test.
The results of the analysis of pair t-test test and post test knowledge obtained p = 0.000, which means the value of p <0.05, it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education about BSE on student knowledge. The results of the t-test test and post test attitude analysis of the pair test obtained p = 0.000, which means the value of p> 0.05, it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education about BSE on student attitudes.
It is hoped that the Tobasa Health Office will make a health education work program or routine health education schedule and socialize health information continuously about realizing especially to schools in Tobasa so that students know and realize so they can detect breast cancer early
