Abstract

Formula milk is a baby food that can meet the nutritional needs of baby's growth and development. Based on data from the Republic of Indonesia Health Office (Dinkes RI) in 2013, it is known that the coverage of breastfeeding in Indonesia is only 54.3%, and the coverage of prelacteal feeding in children aged 0-23 months reaches 44.3%, with the most food given to babies is milk formula, with coverage of 79.8%. Objective: was for factors related to formula feeding in 0-6 months infants at Putri Clinic in Simalungun District in 2018. Method: This type of research is analytic with cross sectional approach. The population was all mothers who had babies aged 0-6 months in July 2018 at the Putri Clinic in Simalungun District with a total of 48 people. The sample in this study was 48 people using the total population. Data analysis of this study with univariate and bivariate tests with chi-square. Result: The results of the study were the work of respondents who did not work in the category of 29 people, knowledge of respondents in the sufficient category, 19 people, support for health workers in the support category, 26 people, support for the non-support category, 31 people, information sources for health workers, 26 people, formula feeding in infants 0-6 months the category is not given, namely 27 people. Conclusion: there is a correlation between occupational factors, knowledge, support of health workers, husband's support and sources of information by giving formula milk to 0-6 months infants at Putri Clinic in Simalungun District in 2018 with a significance value of 0.001 <0.05. The suggestion is that it is expected that the community to give exclusive breastfeeding to infants aged 0-6 months is not affected by the promotion of existing formula milk
