Abstract
The effort of blood transfusion is a form of help that is very valuable to mankind. Data from the Bireuen PMI recorded for Bireuen District requires 700 blood bags per month for the needs of patients who need blood transfusions or the category of emergency patients. But from that amount, PMI Bireuen only has a blood supply of around 300 to 400 bags of blood per month. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence blood donation behavior in the Blood Transfusion Unit of Dr. Fauziah Bireuen in 2019.
This type of research uses analytical surveys with a cross sectional study approach. The population in this study were all new donors in dr. Fauziah Bireuen in Bireuen District with 570 donors. The sampling technique uses an accidental sampling system of 85 people. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with logistic regression.
The results of the study with bivariate analysis showed that the p-value for knowledge (p = 0.006), attitude (p = 0,000), motivation (p = 0,000), family support (p = 0,000) and health personnel support (p = 0.025). The results of the logistic regression test show that the most significant variable influencing blood donor behavior is the family support variable with the largest Exp (B) value of 169.360.
The conclusion of this study is that there is the influence of knowledge, attitudes, motivation, family support and support of health workers on blood donation behavior in the Blood Transfusion Unit of Dr. RS. Fauziah Bireuen in 2019 and the most significant factor affecting blood donor behavior is family support. It is recommended that health workers be more pro-active in providing information to the public about the importance of donating blood to health, through counseling, distributing brochures, and other multi media.
