Abstract
According to the 2015 Republic of Indonesia Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOMRI), the results of testing 10,429 samples of School Children Snack Food taken throughout Indonesia showed 76.18% of the samples met the requirements and 23.82% of the samples did not meet the requirements.
This study aims to analyze the effect of knowledge, attitudes, pocket money on the role of parents, peers and mass media on children's snack behavior in elementary schools at Working Area of Matiti Helath Center Doloksanggul sub-district of Humbang Hasundutan District in 2018.
This research was a type of analytic surveillance research with cross sectional design. The research sample was 114 students at Working Area of Matiti Health Center. The Data were analyzed by conducting Chi-square analysis.
The results of the chi-square statistical test on the knowledge variable with a value of p = 0.043; attitude variable with p value = 0.028; variable of pocket money with a value of p = 0.016; variable role of parents with a value of p = 0.003; peer variable with a value of p = 0.030 <0.05, which means there was a relationship between knowledge, attitude in choosing snacks, pocket money, parent's role and peer influence with snacking behavior of children in elementary school at Working Area of Matiti Health Center Doloksanggul Sub-district of Humbang Hasundutan District in 2018.
