Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. The disease is characterized by joint inflammation and can occur chronically. People with rheumatoid arthritis will experience symptoms such as pain, inflammation, joint stiffness in the morning and difficulty moving. Advanced stage sufferers will experience disruption of daily activities. The purpose of this study was to find out how to use anti-inflammatory drugs in rheumatoid arthritis outpatients in the Kotapinang General Hospital.
This research is descriptive using a retrospective method and retrieving data through medical record installation in the period June - December 2017. The data obtained are presented in table and percentage form, with the inclusion criteria for all anti-inflammatory drugs in rheumatoid arthritis and the complete criteria of all incomplete data on patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
The results showed that during the June - December 2017 period there were 33 outpatients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Patients most affected by rheumatoid arthritis were female 23 (69.69%), ranging from the age of 15-49 years (33.3%). The most widely used type of drug is a generic drug, which were 35 drugs (94.28%). The duration of drug administration for 14 days was on the drug meloxicam (22.85%). The most widely used dose of NSAID was meloxicam at a dose of 2x7.5mg (25.71%). The drug used are tablets (100%) with oral use.
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the use of anti-inflammatory drugs in rheumatoid arthritis in outpatients of Kotapinang General Hospital in 2017 was mostly found in female patients, aged 15-49 years, the most widely used class of drugs was the NSAID group namely meloxicam
