Abstract
Breast milk is the baby's best food and is given for 6 full months without any additional food. According to the 2016 World Health Organization (WHO) report, Globally, only 40% of infants under the age of six months. In Lobu Layan Sigordang Village from the data obtained 45 babies were counted as births from January 2017 to June 2018, it was known to 10 mothers who did IMD in their babies and it was found out that 12 babies were exclusively breastfed. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of early breastfeeding initiation to newborns with the success of exclusive breastfeeding in Labu Layan Sigordang South Tapanuli Village in 2018.
Type of analytic survey research with Cross Sectional approach. The study was conducted in Labu Layan Sigordang Village, South Tapanuli. The population in this study were all mothers who had 0-12 months babies as many as 45 mothers with a total population sampling technique that was as many as 45 people. Analysis of the data used is univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test (0.05)
The results of the study obtained mothers who did not do IMD as many as 28 people (62.2%) and those who did not succeed in being given exclusive ASI as many as 26 people (57.8%). The results of the chi square statistical test obtained the results of p-value 0.001 <sig α 0.05, which means that there is a significant relationship between the implementation of IMD and the success of Exclusive Breastfeeding.
The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) in newborns and the success of Exclusive Breastfeeding in Labu Layan Sigordang Tapanuli Selatan Village in 2018. Suggestions in this study can be used as input and information about initiating early breastfeeding for infants. get exclusive breastfeeding for babies 0-6 months of birth.
