Abstract

Pain is not a disease, but an indication of a network disorder. Pain is a common problem in public health that can be overcome using analgesics. Cesarean deliveries which have recently been very widespread by prospective mothers are one of the factors that cause severe pain. Post-cesarean section usually causes pain that will not be possible, therefore analgesic use in patients after cesarean section is a mandatory alternative. Based on the background above, the authors conducted a study on how many analgesic drugs were used in these post-surgical patients.
Research on the Frequency of Usage of Analgesics in Patients After Cesarean section is a non-experimental study. The design is evaluative descriptive. The location of this study was at the Pharmacy Installation of Tanjung Pura Hospital, Langkat Regency. When the research was conducted from January to June 2018, the data analysis technique was a quantitative technical analysis that processed data in the form of numbers. Descriptive analysis results using tabulation and histogram.
The results of the study obtained 258 patients with a total of 1234 prescriptions. Patients start from the youngest age under 19 years to over 50 years. The most widely used analgesic drug is 469 prescription mefenamic acid and the least used is 9 prescription Ibuprofen.
The conclusion of this study is mefenamic acid 469 prescriptions (38%), Ibuprofen 9 prescriptions (0.7%), Ketorolac inj 401 prescriptions (32.5%), Paracetamol infusion 26 prescriptions (2.1%), Paracetamol tablets 149 prescriptions (12.1%), Profenid supp 180 recipes (14.6%). It is suggested to the next researcher can take an overall analgesic drug sample so that it can be used as a reference material for the procurement of drugs in that section.
