Abstract
The latest World Health Organization (WHO) in the United States in the percentage of breastfeeding women who experience breast milk inhibition reached an average of 87.05% or as many as 8242 postpartum mothers from 12,765 people in 2014 who experienced breast milk inhibition as many as 7198 people out of 10,764 people and in 2015 there were 6543 mothers who experienced breastfeeding from 9,862 people. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of postpartum mothers about breast care and the occurrence of breast milk inhibition.
The research design used in this study was an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were 35 respondents. The sample was taken by accidental sampling technique, that was, accidentally, without anyone planning being determined as a sample. The data analyzed by using bivariate and univariate analysis with chi-square statistical test.
The results of the univariate analysis of the study showed that of the 35 post partum mothers’ respondents the majority of knowledge was enough as many as 16 respondents (45.7%) and experienced breast milk inhibition which were as many as 20 respondents (57.1%). The results of bivariate analysis with statistical tests using Chi-Square, the value of p = 0.003 so that the value of p <α 5%, 0.003 <0.05.
The conclusion of the study shows that there is a relationship between knowledge of postpartum mothers about Breast Care and the occurrence of breast milk inhibition at Kurnia Clinic. It is suggested that mothers increase their knowledge about breast care to reduce the occurrence of breast milk inhibition to reduce maternal morbidity.
