Abstract

Anxiety disorders are things that are often experienced by primiparous mothers who arise due to inability and not ready for the mother to accept the presence of her baby who needs special care in the first week of birth. Abroad reported the occurrence of Post Partum Blues is quite high and varies greatly between 26 - 85%, while the results of research on the occurrence of Post Partum Blues according to Biben, 2016, that women giving birth experienced Post Partum Blues in Indonesia as much as 50–70%. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and maternal post partum anxiety in newborn nursing at Working Area of Darul Aman Health Center of East Aceh District in 2018.
The research of this study is analytical survey with cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were all maternal post partum at Working Area of Darul Aman Health Center in East Aceh District totaling 44 people and all of them were used as research samples. The data collection in this study were primary, secondary and tertiary data. The data analysis was in the form of univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test
The results of the study obtained the majority of respondents had sufficient knowledge, namely as many as 21 (47.7%) respondents, the majority had mild anxiety as many as 18 (40.9%) respondents. Chi-Square results are known as p (0.026) <(0.05).
The conclusion in this study shows that there is a relationship between knowledge and anxiety of maternal postpartum in newborns nursing. It is expected that health workers should increase health education about post partum especially regarding newborn caring and anxiety during the postpartum so mothers can be more selective and wise in nursing for her baby
