Abstract
Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer in women worldwide. The still high incidence of cervical cancer in Indonesia is due to the awareness of women who are married / have sexual relations in early detection of cervical cancer through pap smears. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of counseling about cervical caesarean to the interest of WUS to do pap smear examination.
This type of research is analytic research with a quasy experiment approach. The study was conducted in Lambaet Village. The study population was 85 people and all were sampled. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using two paired samples (paired sample t-test) with a 95% confidence level ( = 0.05).
The results showed that the interest of WUS to do Pap smear prior to health education (pretest) in the low category (74.1%), and after health education (posttest) was in the high category (83.5%). There is an influence of counseling about effective cervix ca. on the interest of WUS in conducting Pap smear examination in Lambaet Village, Kutabaro Health Center, Aceh Besar District in 2018, with a p-value = 0,000 <0,05 and t = 10,193> t-table (1,989) .
The conclusion of this study is that counseling about cervical ces is effective to increase the interest of WUS to do pap smear examination. It was suggested to the head of the Kutabaro Puskesmas in Aceh Besar District to require health workers (midwives) to provide health counseling to WUS who came to visit to be willing and interested in conducting Pap smear examinations.
