Abstract

The main problem currently being faced by developing countries including Indonesia is the still high rate of population growth and a lack of balance in the distribution and age structure of the population. Implants are contraceptives that are infiltrated under the skin of the inner forearm in the form of a silastic capsule (flexible) whose length is slightly shorter than a matchstick and in each stem contains the hormone levonorgestrel which can prevent pregnancy. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and maternal attitudes with the selection of implant contraception at Desa Ujung Batu I Padang Lawas in 2018.
This research uses analytical survey type and cross sectional design. The populations in this study were all fertile age couples as many as 540 people at Desa Ujung Batu I Padang Lawas. The sampling technique in the study used Random sampling techniques as many as 84 people. Based on the results of the questionnaire where 22 respondents select implants and 62 respondents did not select implants. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis with Chi-square test.
The results of this study indicate that EFA has good knowledge of 11 respondents (13.1%), sufficient knowledge as many as 56 respondents (66.7%) and insufficient knowledge as many as 17 respondents (20.2%). Positive EFA attitudes were 55 respondents (65.5%) and negative EFA attitudes were 29 respondents (34.5%). EFA who select implants were 22 respondents (26.2%) and EFA who did not select implants as many as 62 respondents (73.8%). The results of cross tabulation between maternal knowledge and Implant Selection with p value = 0,000 <0,05. Cross tabulation of attitude with Implant selection with p value = 0.00 1 <0.05.
The conclusions of this study shows that there is a relationship between knowledge and maternal attitudes with implant contraception selection at Desa Ujung Batu I, Padang Lawas in 2018. It is expected that EFA will be better understood about the benefits of contraception that will be used especially the use of implant contraceptive devices. The advantages and disadvantages of implant contraception so that the EFA knows good and appropriate contraception to use.
