Abstract
Early marriage is marriage that is done before reproductive age. According to the BKKBN, the age of married women is at least 21 years and men are 25 years old. Early marriage in Indonesia is the second highest in ASEAN after Cambodia. It is estimated that one in five girls in Indonesia are married before they reach 18 years of age. Early marriage is a high risk of death during childbirth, because women aged 15-19 years are twice as likely to die during childbirth as those aged 20-25 years. The aim of the study was to determine the related factors tom marriage before the age of 21 at Kelurahan Sigambal, Rantau Selatan Sub District of Labuhan Batu District in 2018.
This research method of this study is a quantitative analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted at Kelurahan Sigambal. The populations in this study were all women who were married and recorded at KUA as many as 161 people, a sample of 115 people with purposive sampling technique. The data collection of this study were primary, secondary and tertiary data. The questionnaire used validity and reliability tests. The data analysis in this study used univariate and bivariate.
The results of the study used a statistical test with a significance level of p <0.05. Education variable with p value (0,000 <0,05), culture with p value (0,000 <0,05), economic status with p value (0,000 <0,05), free association with p value (0,015 <0,05) .
The conclusion in this study shows that there is a relationship of education, culture, economic status, promiscuity with a marriage of <21 years. It is expected to adolescents to seek information related to the impact of early marriage and to the community should be able to sort out the culture of early marriage to continue research on early marriage with different methods so that research continues.
