Abstract
Family Planning (KB) is an effort to improve the quality of the population in overcoming population growth with the aim of preventing pregnancy. One of the public health problems also occurs in developing countries, such as in Indonesia, which is dominated by the use of KB injection type KB as much as 4,128,115 (48.56%) PUS, namely the hormonal family planning group. Pasar Bengkel Village as many as 273 people (39.73%) were dominated by the use of hormonal family planning types, while BKBPMD expected WUS to prefer non-hormonal contraception compared to hormonal contraception. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of education and knowledge of WUS with the selection of contraception types in Pasar Bengkel Village, Perbaungan Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai District in 2018.
The study design was an analytical survey using cross sectional cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all WUS who used active contraception in Pasar Bengkel Village as many as 273 people, with a sample of 73 WUS. The sampling technique is done using Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis used the univariate and bivariate tests with Chi Square.
The results of the study show that the relationship level of the WUS education level has a significant relationship with the variable type of contraception selection with a p-value of 0.011 <0.05; Likewise, the knowledge relationship variable WUS has a significant relationship with the choice of contraception type with a p-value of 0.004 <0.05. These results conclude that there is a relationship between education level and WUS knowledge with the selection of contraception in Pasar Bengkel Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency.
It is recommended that the community, especially WUS, be expected to be more active in seeking complete information on choosing the type of contraception according to age, the effectiveness of contraception, and health conditions. It is hoped that the Puskesmas in Pasar Bengkel Village will provide complete information about the types of contraception to family planning acceptors and better services and plan various programs such as promoting and increasing counseling on the types of contraception so that family planning acceptors can choose the type of contraception that is most appropriate to their needs and his condition.
