Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) Lung is an infectious disease caused by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria and is chronic. TB is an infectious disease, the source of transmission is patients whose examination of sputum under a microscope found TB bacteria, called acid-resistant bacilli (ARB).
This study aimed to determine the compliance level of consuming medication for outpatient patients at Haji General Hospital in Medan. The type of this research was to use analytical survey research methods with a Cross-sectional design. The sample to be studied was 40 respondents. Data were analyzed by performing a chi-square analysis test.
The results showed that all independent variables had a relationship with compliance of consuming medication, (knowledge p = 0,000 and family support p = 0.006).
The conclusion of this study was that from 40 respondents who obeyed in consuming medication as many as 21 patients (52.5%) and the respondents non-obey in consuming medication as many as 19 patients (47.5%). Suggested to the Haji General Hospital Medan, it is necessary to conduct health education about compliance with consuming TB medication to the community to improve health knowledge of the community so that the community is avoided from Lung TB disease.
