Abstract
Pregnancy is a period in which the body is in dire need of a maximum food intake both physically and spiritually. Pregnant women usually often complain of frequent fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath, pale face and various other complaints. All these needs are indications that the pregnant woman is being suffer from anemia during pregnancy. This disease occurs due to the low hemoglobin content in the body during pregnancy. Pregnant women with anemia have a higher incidence of puerperal complications, such as infection, than pregnant women with normal hematological values.
The type of research used is analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all pregnant women from the ANC trimester II pregnancy at Sei Agul Health Center in West Medan from April to July 2018. Accidental sampling was conducted by sampling. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire using univariate and bivariate data analysis with chi square test.
Based on the research results of the characteristics of the majority of respondents aged 27-33 years as many as 12 respondents (40.0%), the majority of multiparous parity as many as 20 respondents (66.7%). The results of the majority of univariate compliance with Fe tablet consumption were non-compliant as many as 19 respondents (63.3%) and the incidence of anemia was the majority of mild anemia as many as 16 respondents (53.3%). Chi square test results obtained p value (sig) = 0.000 <0.05.
The conclusion of this study is that there is a correlation between adherence to tablet consumption during pregnancy and the occurrence of maternal anemia at Sei Agul Puskemas in West Medan in 2018. It is recommended that pregnant women increase maternal awareness about the importance of Fe tablets for pregnant women obediently consuming Fe tablets during pregnancy so there is no occurrence of anemia, especially in the Sei Agul Health Center in West Medan.
