Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still very low, many factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding include husband's support, motivation of health workers. Husband's support is related to the success of exclusive breastfeeding to infants. Husband's support is a support that contributes to determining the emotional state or feelings of the mother so that it affects the smooth reflex of breastmilk expenditure. The research objective was to determine the relationship between motivation and exclusive breastfeeding in Untemungkur of Muara sub-district, North Tapanuli regency.
The type of research used is analytic survey, with a cross sectional approach. The study population was 40 people. The sample in this study were all mothers who had babies aged 6-12 months. The sampling technique in this study is by using the total population. data analysis used univariate and bivariate using Chi-Square test.
The results of the study used the chi-square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Obtained data of Husband's Motivation p value 0,010 (p <α), Motivation of Mother p value 0,029 (p <α), Motivation of Health Worker p value 0,017 (p <α) means that there is a Relationship between Motivation and Exclusive Breastfeeding.
Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is a relationship between motivation and exclusive breastfeeding in Untemungkur of Muara sub-district, North Tapanuli regency in 2018. It is recommended for breastfeeding mothers to be able to increase exclusive breastfeeding for their babies up to 6 months of age, to family members, especially husbands, to participate in exclusive breastfeeding by providing support as long as exclusive breastfeeding mothers reach the age of six months and eliminate the culture of supplementary feeding other than breastfeeding before the baby is six months old, for health workers to further improve and disseminate the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to mothers through counseling and counseling since pregnancy.
