Abstract
Maternal mortality in 2016 has long been used as an important indicator that provides guidance on women's health levels related to reproductive behavior. It is estimated that every year 500,000 maternal deaths occur, 99% of which occur in Developing Countries. The purpose of this study is to find the related factors to maternal in selecting birth attendants at Working Area of Mompang Health Center, North Panyabungan Sub-district of Mandailing Natal District in 2018.
The study design was analytical survey research with a cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were 32 maternity women. The sampling technique used total sampling, namely the entire population of 32 people. The data collection wereprimary, secondary and tertiary data and tested by using Chi Square test.
Based on the frequency distribution of education, it can be seen that the low as many as 21 respondents (65.6%), low income as many as 29 respondents (90.6%), sufficient knowledge as many as 16 respondents (50.0%), family support that did not support 22 respondents (68.8%). Based on the selection of birth attendants who chose non-health workers as many as 19 respondents (59.4%), and those with health care were 13 respondents (40.6%).
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between education, income, knowledge and family support in selecting birth attendant at Working Area of Mompang Health Center, North Panyabungan Sub-district of Mandailing Natal District in 2018. It is suggested for health workers especially at Mompang Health Center to use this research as an input and efforts to improve the selecting of birth attendants.
