Abstract
In supporting the fulfillment of breastmilk production for infants optimally it should be as expected, the most crucial factor in breastfeeding is breast care since pregnancy and after delivery. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of postpartum mothers' knowledge about breast care to the smooth production of breast milk in postpartum mothers at the Grace Delitua Clinic in Namo Rambe District, Deli Serdang District in 2018.
This type of research was analytic observational with cross sectional design. Samples were taken by using Total Sampling to obtain 32 samples of all postpartum mothers in Grace Clinic. Data analysis used Chi-Square test.
The results of the study of 32 postpartum mothers showed that there were 15 respondents with good knowledge and smooth breastfeeding (46.9%), 3 respondents with good knowledge and non-smooth breastfeeding (9.4%). While respondents with less knowledge and experienced smooth breastfeeding amounted to 5 people (15.6%), and respondents with less knowledge and experienced non-current breastmilk numbered 14 respondents (43.8%). Chi-square test results with p-value = 0.006 < α (α = 0.05).
The conclusion of this study states that there is a significant relationship between breast care knowledge and smooth delivery of breastmilk at the Grace Clinic Delitua in 2018. To health workers at the Grace Clinic is expected to further improve their health promotion of the importance of breast care to postpartum mothers in improving the smoothness of breast milk so as to increase quality of health services and quality at the place of researchers.
