Abstract

Early marriage has an impact on reproductive health, because the younger the age of marriage, the longer the time span for production. Riskesdas (2013) noted the pregnancy rate of women aged 10-54 years 2.68%, this amount includes 0.02% of pregnant women less than the age of 15 years and 1.97% of pregnant women aged 15-19 years. This teenage pregnancy will have a negative impact on the health of the mother and child. Maternal and child health status is an indicator of the ability of a country's health services, where the ability of health services is measured by the ratio of the high and low maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR) by each country.
The research method used was mixed methods with explanatory sequential method. This research was conducted at Belawan Health Center Medan from January to July 2018. The populations in this study were 3-12 months old mothers who were married early. The research samples were 32 people using accidental sampling technique.
The results showed that there was a relationship between married age and baby’s growth and p value = 0.005, there was no educational relationship with the baby's growth and development with p value = 0.096, there was an income relationship with the baby's growth and development with p value = 0.001. Family with baby’s growth and development with p value = 0.409, Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there were other factors that influence the growth of the baby, namely family support.
The conclusion of this study is that of the 4 (four) research variables there are 2 related variables namely marriage age and income, and there are other factors that affect the baby's growth and development. It is suggested to Health Center officers to give attention to babies, especially mothers of babies who are married at an early age.
