Abstract
About 40% of maternal deaths are related to anemia in pregnancy caused by iron deficiency and acute bleeding. Maternal iron requirements during pregnancy are 900 mg or 90 Fe tablets which must be consumed regularly. Irregular consumption of Fe tablets is thought to cause a decrease in hemoglobin levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between consuming Fe tablets with Hemoglobin Levels (Hb) in pregnant women in the third trimester.
This type of research is analytic research with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at Kurniati Clinic, Beringin Sub District. The study population was 31 people and all were sampled. Sampling by means of total sampling. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using Chi-Square test with a confidence level of 95% ( = 0.05).
The results showed that consumption of Fe tablets at Kurniati Clinic in Beringin District in 2018, was mostly irregular (61.3%), a small proportion was regular (38.7%). Hemoglobin (HB) level of third trimester pregnant women in Kurniati Clinic, Beringin Sub District, Deli Serdang District, 2018, mostly experienced anemia (≤11 gr / dl) (54.8%), a small percentage were not anemic (> 11gr / dl) (45.2%). Consuming Fe tablets related to hemoglobin level (HB) Pregnant Women in Third Trimester in Kurniati Clinic, Beringin District, Deli Serdang District, 2018, p = 0.001 <0.005.
The conclusion of this study is that consuming Fe tablets is associated with hemoglobin levels of third trimester pregnant women. It is suggested to Kurniati Clinic to always provide information through counseling to pregnant women about the importance of consuming Fe tablets during pregnancy so that hemoglobin levels do not decrease and become anemia.
