Abstract
Bilimbifruit leaves (Averrhoabilimbi L.) have traditionally been used as antibacterial for skin diseases such as acne and skin infections. Star fruit leaves contain several chemical compounds including flavonoids, saponins and tannins which are active compounds as antibacterial.
This study aims to determine the ethanol extract of bilimbi leaves can be made into liquid soap dosage forms and has antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus epidermidis. This research is an experimental research that extracts obtained by using maceration method then made preparations of liquid soap ethanol extract of Bilimbifruit leaves (Averrhoabilimbi L.) with a concentration of 7.5%, 10% and 12.5% and evaluated the preparation by organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, irritation test, foam height test, hedonic test and antibacterial activity test.
Making liquid soap using ethanol extract of Bilimbifruitleaves (Averrhoabilimbi L.) concentrations of 7.5%, 10% and 12.5% fulfilled the criteria, organoleptic test of brown preparations, distinctive aroma and liquid texture. Homogeneity test showed a homogeneous preparation. PH test, according to SNI the appropriate pH for liquid soap is 8-11. Antibacterial activity test concentration of 7.5% has an inhibitory power of 16.6 mm, a concentration of 10% has an inhibitory power of 18 mm and a concentration of 12.5% has an inhibitory power of 19.9 mm. In the ANOVA test the liquid soap inhibitory effect of ethanol extract of Bilimbifruit leaves (Averrhoabilimbi L.) obtained Fcount value of 243.490 at a significant 0.00.
Based on these results it can be concluded that the liquid soap of ethanol extract of Bilimbi leaves (Averrhoabilimbi L.) with a concentration of 7.5% 10% and 12.5% has provided inhibitory power to the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis with a strong inhibition zone category of 19.9 mm
